Video ► The future mindset
Interrogating innovators is as fun as it sounds

If we are to achieve a sustainable future, the role of big business is critical. That’s why we’re working with the Godfather of modern sustainability John Elkington to produce a new three-part video series on ‘breakthrough’.

Together with his team we’ve spoken to the world’s leading innovators and the CEOs of its most powerful companies. And they all agree. Solving the world’s largest problems starts with a new mindset.

“Our species tends to do its most interesting innovation, jump to very different spaces, when it’s backed into a corner. The question is can we come out of that not just fighting, but with a very different set of mindsets, technologies and business models?”

John Elkington: no evil business here

In the first instalment, which premiered on the Fast Company, John digs deeper into what’s needed to drive, shape and steer the immense transformations that lie ahead of us.

It features Project Drawdown’s Paul Hawken, Patagonia’s Rick Ridgeway, Singularity University’s Peter Diamandis, TransferWise’s Taavet Hinrikus, Just’s Josh Tetrick, XPrize’s Zenia Tata, Interfaces’s Erin Meezan + more.

Watch ► We’ve got 99 problems, but this video ain’t one.

AtlasVideo: ‘The Breakthrough Mindset’ was produced by Atlas of the Future for Project Breakthrough (United Nations Global Compact/ Volans). Next episode: Breakthrough Business Models

Very nice video. It’s good to see people from all sorts of backgrounds and jobs talk about this shared mindset. Would be good to find universities who share this mindset too and are preparing their students by updating their curriculum. MOOCs are doing a great job here. As a side note, the book Exponential Organizations, published by Singularity University (featured) and widely recommended by John Elkington (featured) could be accompanying reading to this project.
