Atlas of the Future is looking for a new Editor to take the helm of managing production of our English-language content. Our Editor will be a brilliant writer, passionate about better futures for all. Responsibilities include feature writing and interviews, reviewing and editing articles, and managing day-to-day editorial operations and communication.

At Atlas of the Future we celebrate diversity and want our team to reflect this. We are committed to equal employment opportunities and we encourage applications from women and ethnic minorities.

About us ► Atlas of the Future is a London/Barcelona-based media, working with people around the world to tell the stories of their work to solve humanity’s challenges. Atlas of the Future is an online resource of hope with daily content in 3 languages (English, Spanish, Catalan), and a diverse community of the future-curious and changemakers that meets at the annual Fixing the future event at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB).

Our mission is to show that the future can be beautiful: we do that by sharing the most inspiring projects for a better tomorrow in all areas of human activity.

Atlas of the Future is part of SOM*, a Barcelona-based cooperative leader in the Catalan cultural industry.

New projects feature on the Atlas every day

About the role ► The Atlas of the Future is a small team of four with a big heart. We are looking for an English-language editor to help nurture the project through its next phase of growth.

Editorial plan: you will be responsible for the content plan of the Atlas, proposing monthly themes, and selecting daily projects to be featured.

Editing: you’ll review all content, articles, and photographs for accuracy and appropriateness, providing suggestions where necessary to improve them.

Editorial guidelines: you will set the editorial guidelines and tone of voice for the brand, and ensure that all content meets these guidelines.

Representing the publication: along with the publisher and the president, you will represent the Atlas at social functions and industry events, and be responsible for creating and maintaining a relevant, quality network for the Atlas.

Working with the team: you are responsible for coordinating and caring for our network of freelance collaborators, and will work closely with the rest of the team to define and develop the editorial plan. You’ll also contribute to recruiting new collaborators.

Communication and community: you are the voice of our weekly newsletter, featuring each week’s projects. Together with the rest of the team you are responsible for sharing all the content created via Atlas’ social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn).

Audience: you’ll lead the editorial team’s mission to develop and deepen our relationship with our audience, by offering high quality content in a compelling and entertaining way and interacting with our audiences on social platforms and at events.
