This year we will be focusing on 25 projects that can save the world.

Over two packed days, Fixing the Future will bring together the best 25 future-shaping projects from across the world – from adapting AI technologies to farming innovation to drought mitigation to creative recycling. Meet the change-makers over a range of panel discussions, debates, workshops and performances. Not only that, we will also have a Fixing Faire, presenting the best projects from Catalonia and beyond.

This year we’re doing things a bit differently here at Fixing the Future. While we still presenting the best future-thinking projects that are making positive changes in the world, we’ve got some new additions that we’re excited about!

Festival opening

This year, Fixing the Future has expanded the collaboration with Oxfam Intermón in the context of their European projects Active citizen for people and planet and SPARK, which bring together climate justice and youth activism. As a result of this growing partnership, we have curated a special festival opening on 12 October

What better way to start the festival than with an afternoon of inspiring activities that get us thinking, connecting and taking action? We’ll remember that no logics of domination fit the world as we want it (such a good day to remember this!) and that only collective action can lead us to honest relationships with ourselves, with other across countries and continents and with the planet. It is a declaration of our intention to shape the world towards the just futures we imagine and we invite you all to join us in making a difference.

Disseny Hub Barcelona.

New venue

This year we’ll be at the Disseny Hub Barcelona (DHUB), the city’s most important design centre. We’re very excited to be partnering with DHUB this year, an exciting space with exhibitions, festivals and activities for all publics. The DHUB is situated in the the innovative 22@ District, home to tech companies, start-ups and education institutions and a perfect base to explore the up-and-coming trends in Barcelona.

Future Faire

In addition to our remarkable line-up of 25 international projects, we’ll also be introducing the Future Faire, for local and international initiatives to present their ground-breaking prototypes and projects. It’s the perfect fusion of start-up talent and sustainable development. We’ll launch a call for projects soon, so watch this space!

More workshops

This year we’ll be able to host more workshops throughout the festival. These workshops have always been a crowd favourite, providing you with an exclusive opportunity to delve deeper into the innovative strategies and visionary approaches behind future-thinking projects.

With the support of Holaluz and the collaboration of Oxfam Intermón, Fixing the Future is a festival where we can share, inspire, ask critical questions and, most importantly, take action to change the world for the better. Come to the Design Hub Barcelona on 13 and 14 October 2023 and meet the visionary people behind the projects and together we can be part of the future we want to make.

If you want to know what we’re up to before anyone else, sign up to the Fixing newsletter, and don’t forget to tell your friends! This year we have open calls, give-aways and much more. You won’t want to miss out!
