Switzerland (Lausanne)
Is this the future of research and rescue missions? Having won the one million dollar 2015 UAE Drones for Good 2015 award, Flyability’s spherical Elios (previously Gimball) is a lifesaver – literally. It’s the world’s first collision-tolerant flying robot.
The Switzerland-made UAV can fly close to people and remain stable, whatever it comes into contact with. Currently being used for industrial inspection and search and rescue operations, it allows professionals safe and easy access to places normally out of reach, such as the heart of a glacier.
