Shock of the neu

NEU
Brazil (São Paulo)

To give it its full – if unwieldy – title, the Núcleo de Empreendedorismo da USP (Entrepreneurship Nucleus of the University of São Paulo) is a non-profit organisation made up of professors, students and researchers aimed at fomenting an entrepreneurial culture in Latin America’s largest university. Focusing on three main areas – inspiration, development and connection – the NEU team invites speakers to encourage and enlighten undergraduates and graduate students.  One recent visitor was Tallis Gomes, founder of Easy Taxi – the largest Brazilian startup, now in 30 countries.

The development aspect is defined as a “pre-acceleration program for aspiring entrepreneurs, which transforms crude ideas into solid early-stage startups”: every student with an idea receives mentorship and information references.  For the connection angle, NEU has acted as a hub to allow students to meet entrepreneurs, up-and-running startups and leaders of major Brazilian companies.

NEU was mapped in an AtlasChart by Camila Achutti, the tech FutureHero and software engineer behind Mulheres na Computação (Women in Computing).
